KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Released on Thursday by the United Soccer Coaches, three Argonauts were named All-South Region, with one earning first-team honors.
Mya Swinton grabbed first team,
Jillian Thompson and
Olof Thorvaldsdottir landed second team.
This is Swinton's third year in a row getting first-team honors. This is a career first for Thompson and Thorvaldsdottir to be recognized by the United Soccer Coaches.
Swinton finished the year with five goals and three assists. She helped lead the team to an 18-1-2 record as a captain. She was named the Gulf South Conference Tournament MVP for her help in winning the GSC Championship.
Thompson was a key defender in keeping the Argos to a single-loss season. She played a total of 1,512 minutes and scored four goals.
In her first year as an Argo, Thorvaldsdottir led the Argos in goals (10), assists (8), and points (28). She was named D2CCA South Region Player of the Year and GSC Offensive Player of the Year.
The Argos concluded their season with an 18-1-2 record after falling to Florida Tech in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The players are in the running for United Soccer Coaches All-America Teams, which will be announced on Thursday, December 11.
