TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – UWF Cross Country placed 19^th out of 34 teams in a highly competitive men's 8K field at the FSU Cross Country Invitational Friday morning.
 
The field featured multiple top D1 teams, including Georgia, LSU, Miami, Samford, South Florida and the hosting Florida State Seminoles. It also featured multiple DII regionally ranked teams including Flagler, Tampa, and Auburn Montgomery.
 
The Argos were able to place above multiple DI and DII teams including Florida Atlantic, Bethune-Cookman, Florida International, Alabama State, and Jacksonville. They also finished ahead of south region teams in Valdosta State and Barry.
 
"We got out a little hot early today and weren't able to keep it going late. A little disappointed with the team finish but on a day where times weren't fast, I think we held our own." head coach Caleb Carmichael said. 
 
Xander McLaughlin was the first-place finisher for the Argos for the first time in his career at UWF. The sophomore placed 74^th in a field of 333, running a 26:30.7 in the 8K.
 
Grant Chastain was the next finisher up for the Argos, placing 85^th with a time of 26:42.1. Carson King placed 109^th with a final time of 26:57.9. 
 
Parker Hicks' final time of 27:42.0 earned him a 152 place finish, with Nathan Deboutez finishing shortly after him with a 28:00.9 time. Parker Nunley placed 264^th with a final time of 29:54.6.
