JACKSON, Tenn. – The University of West Florida men's basketball secured an 86–72 Gulf South Conference road victory over Union on Friday afternoon at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. UWF now sits at 14-3 overall and 7-2 in the conference, extending their winning streak to eight games.
The Argonauts led 45–38 at the break and never relinquished control after halftime, shooting 42.9 percent from the field and knocking down 10 three-pointers in the win. UWF also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 22-of-26 attempts (84.6 percent).
Ryan Payne led the Argos offensively with a game-high 17 points, drilling five deep balls, while
Shahar Lazar added 16 points off the bench on 5-of-7 shooting for his second straight double-figure performance.
Elijah Wyche logged 12 points, seven assists, and six rebounds, and
Aric Demings chipped in 11 points as well.
The West Florida bench outscored the Bulldogs 32–12, as the Argos also held advantages in points off turnovers (18–4) and fast-break points (12–4).
