PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team fell to Montevallo, 97-87, in a Gulf South Conference matchup Friday afternoon at the UWF Field House.
West Florida (15-4, 8-3 GSC) led at the break, 46-44, after shooting 53.6 percent from the field in the first half, but Montevallo (11-6, 7-4 GSC) used a strong second-half performance to pull away late.
Aric Demings led the Argonauts with 27 points, six rebounds, and six assists, while
Colby McAllister added 16 points on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.
Shahar Lazar chipped in 11 points off the bench, and
Elijah Wyche finished with 10 points and four rebounds.
West Florida shot 52.8 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from three-point range. The Argos will begin a two-week long road trip, beginning with West Alabama on Thursday, January 22. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. Live statsand broadcast will be available on GoArgos.com.
