PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team earned their fifth straight win Friday night, defeating Delta State 85–72 at the UWF Field House, improving to 11–3 overall and 4–2 in Gulf South Conference play.
West Florida set the tone early, jumping out to a 39–26 lead at the half. The Argonauts never trailed, maintaining control throughout the contest and matching the Statesmen's second-half output to secure the 13-point victory.
Six Argonauts scored in double figures, led by
Aric Demings with a game-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Tim Hall Jr. followed with 15 points and eight rebounds, while
Elijah Wyche recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
Anthony Igiede added 10 points,
Ryan Payne knocked down three triples for nine points, and
Shahar Lazar chipped in 11 off the bench.
West Florida shot 50.7 percent from the field and a staggering 50 percent from three-point range, while dominating the rebounding battle 43–27. The Argonauts also held advantages in points in the paint (42–30), second-chance points (17–6), and bench scoring (21–13).
