PENSACOLA, Fla. – Seniors
Elijah Wyche and
Ryan Payne were named to the Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team, the league announced Friday. Additionally, 13 Argonauts earned recognition on the GSC Winter Honor Roll.
Wyche capped off an outstanding season, averaging 13.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game while playing 30.6 minutes per contest. The All-GSC Second Team selection totaled 472 points, 103 assists, 216 rebounds, 43 steals, and 28 blocks across 34 games. He also surpassed the 1,000-career point milestone and helped lead West Florida to its second GSC Championship in program history.
Payne was named the GSC Champion Scholar-Athlete, awarded to the student-athlete with the highest GPA among conference champions. In addition to his academic success, Payne delivered a strong season on the court, setting a program single-season record with 81 made three-pointers and tying for second in single-season three-point attempts (189). He averaged 8.7 points, 0.5 assists, and 1.2 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive .429 from beyond the arc.
