BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The gusty wind conditions continued on Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club, the host site for the NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship, but UWF overcame the difficult scoring conditions and moved their way up the leaderboard into a tie for fourth place.
West Florida completed round two of stroke play with a team score of 282 (-6) to bring the team's two round total to 567 (-9). The Argos sit in a tie with fellow GSC team Lee in fourth place. The team jumped three positions from the first round.
Per Ekelund had one of the best rounds of the day across the tournament with a 67 (-5) and is tied for second place in the individual standings. The junior battled back from two bogeys in the first four holes to record five birdies and an eagle in the remaining 14 holes. Ekelund closed his round with three consecutive birdies, shooting a 31 on the back nine.
Eddie Lee posted two eagles in his round of 68 (-4) as the senior moved up 40 spots in the individual standings. Lee is now one under in his two rounds. He eagled a pair of par fives on holes No. 5 and No. 13.
The Argos will tee off beginning at 12:16 p.m. PT on Wednesday for the final round of stroke play. UWF is two shots ahead of sixth place team CSU San Bernadino and five shots ahead of eighth place team Georgia Southwestern. The top eight teams from stroke play will advance to the medal match play rounds.
