BOULDER CITY, Nev. – It wasn't the ending the Argos hoped to see on Wednesday evening at Boulder Creek Golf Club for the NCAA Division II National Championship.
UWF was unable to hold onto a top eight position falling back six places in the final three holes. The team finished the third round in 10th place and out of the seeding for medal match play which begins on Thursday. The Argos shot a 291 (+3) in the final stroke play round to finish six under as a team for the tournament.
Midway through the round UWF was tied for fourth place and was comfortably in contention for advancing to medal match play at seven under par for the day and 16 under for the entire tournament. But the back nine holes, which had been the strong suit for the team all week came back to haunt the Argos as the team went +10. The team posted 11 bogeys and three double bogeys on the back nine.
Max Page led UWF in his final tournament as an Argo with a round of 71 (-1). Page was three over for the 54 holes.
