PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Gulf South Conference Champion Argos are the No. 1 team in this week's NCAA DII Baseball South Region rankings, released on Wednesday afternoon.

UWF (39-13) are coming off four straight wins at the GSC Championship to clinch their fifth conference title in program history. The Argos defeated Delta State, 2-1 on Tuesday in the championship game. The win also gave UWF their 50th overall win in conference tournament play as the team closed out its final conference tournament at the DII level. 

The Argos sit above the 2025 National Champions Tampa in the rankings and are in a prime spot to serve as the host for one of the South Region brackets and opportunity to host the following Super Regional if the team advances. The last time the Argos hosted in the South Region was in 2023. 

West Florida will wait for the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday to find out the host sites and their next match up for postseason play. The first round of regional action will begin on Thursday, May 14.
