PADUCAH, Ky. – Back-to-back rounds of +8 as a team has set the UWF women's golf team up in a tie for second place after two rounds at The Velvet Classic hosted by Murray State at the Country Club of Paducah.
Consistent play on day one of the two-day tournament has the Argos just one shot off the leaders West Georgia. Pacing the Argos has been
Mariana Arronte who is leading the tournament at one under par. She is currently the only played in the field under par. The junior shot 73 (+1) in the first round followed by a 70 (-2) in the second round. Arronte had four birdies in the second round. Her only falter came on hole No. 4 with a double bogey.
Isabela Urruchua and
Samantha Schultz each had back-to-back consistent rounds of 75 (+3) and 74 (+2) to help keep the Argos atop the leaderboard. The duo is currently tied for 10
th in the individual standings.
Lauren Patterson's opening round 73 tied Arronte but the sophomore dropped back to 19
th place following a 78 in the second round.
UWF is the second-best team on par 5s with a team score of -1.
The Argos will tee off at noon on Tuesday for the final round.
