AVONDALE, La. – In the first tournament of the NCAA Division I era the UWF women's golf team completed the opening two rounds at the Tulane Classic presented by Chad Brownstein. The Argos currently sit in ninth place with a team score of 610 (+34).

UWF had a fantastic start following the first 18 holes when the team came through with a +9 which placed the Argos fourth overall in the 12-team event. Isabela Urruchua settled in quickly after an opening hole double bogey to shoot even in the first round. The junior only had three troubling holes and scored four birdies in a span of five holes on the front nine. Urruchua birdied holes No. 3, 4, 6 and 7. After a tough second round of +7 set her back, Urruchua is tied for 22^nd place heading into the final round on Wednesday. 

Argo newcomer Mariana Arronte combined a pair of consistent rounds at +4 and +3 to be tied with Urruchua in the individual standings. 

UWF dropped back five spots in the team standings following a second round 313 (+25). The team remains ahead of Southern, Jackson State, and Loyola (La.). 

The Argos will tee off for the final round on Wednesday at 8 a.m. at TPC Louisiana.
