PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 20-ranked University of West Florida volleyball team swept Shorter 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-20) in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference Volleyball Tournament on Saturday afternoon. Top-seeded West Florida advances to its eighth GSC Tournament Championship appearance in the last nine years and will face the No. 2 seed North Alabama in the tournament final on Sunday, November 22 at 12:30 p.m. CT in the UWF Field House.
West Florida used a .231 team attacking percentage in the win and had a balanced offensive attack on Saturday with five Argos tallying at least eight kills in the match.
"I think what makes our team so difficult to play against is the fact that we have so many weapons," Wolter said. "We have players that have to embrace the fact that even if it isn't their day we still have other players that can step up and get the job done."
West Florida will be looking to win its seventh GSC Tournament Championship in the last eight years on Sunday. UWF faced UNA in the tournament final in 2008, 2010 and 2011 and came out on top in all three matchups. West Florida swept North Alabama in both regular season matchups this season.
North Alabama will be making its 17
th GSC Tournament Championship appearance on Sunday. The Lions have won 16 conference tournament titles in the 34-year history of the conference.
