Game Notes: No. 9 UWF continues GSC play at VSU

Argonauts looking to extend two-game winning streak

VALDOSTA, Ga. - The No. 9 West Florida baseball team hits the road to play Valdosta State in a three-game series Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21-22. The Argonauts (7-2, 2-1) are on a two-game winning streak heading into the weekend against the Blazers (6-3, 1-2) who have lost three straight.

History of UWF and VSU

Last season, VSU came to Pensacola ranked No. 4 nationally to play No. 2 UWF. The Blazers were riding a 10-game, season-opening winning streak. UWF swept a doubleheader with 5-1 and 3-2 wins before the third game was canceled due to weather.

The Argos eliminated the Blazers from the GSC Tournament with a 15-4 win in the fourth round in the postseason.

UWF is riding an eight-game winning streak against VSU, which includes wins in the GSC Tournament in 2012 and 2014, dating back to the 2012 season.
