No. 1 West Florida men's tennis defeats No. 5 Armstrong State 5-4

UWF men’s tennis team extends winning streak to 32

RESULTS

VALDOSTA, Ga. –
The No. 1-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team defeated No. 5 Armstrong State 5-4 on the campus of Valdosta State University on Saturday afternoon. West Florida (3-0, 1-0 GSC) extends its' winning streak to 32 with the win.
 
"Doubles was really close today, I think every match had a tiebreaker," head coach Derrick Racine said. "Singles started out really close as well and our guys fought really hard today. These kind of matches early in the season are going to help us get better."
 
Junior Warren Kuhn (Johannesburg, South Africa) and senior Elio Latella (Sydney, Australia) fell at number one doubles by a score of 8-9 while junior Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) and sophomore Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) won 9-8 at number two doubles.
 
Junior Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) and sophomore Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia/Colegio) fell at number three doubles by a score of 7-9.
 
No. 8 Peyrot defeated Otakar Lucak 6-2, 6-3 at number one singles while Kuhn defeated No. 18 Ignacio Hernandez at number two singles 6-4, 6-1.
 
No. 30 Brasil defeated Luca Cerin 6-4, 6-1 at number three singles while Borrero fell to Marek Pesicka 6-7, 3-6.
 
Latella fell to Damian Okrutny at number five singles 6-7, 6-1, 4-10 while sophomore Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) won at number six singles.
 
West Florida will next face No. 13 Rollins on Sunday, February 22 at 10 a.m. ET.
