No. 1 West Florida men's tennis defeats No. 10 Valdosta State 8-1

UWF men’s tennis team extends winning streak to 34 with win over VSU

VALDOSTA, Ga. –
The No. 1-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team defeated No. 10 Valdosta State 8-1 on the road Sunday afternoon. West Florida (5-0, 2-0 GSC) extends its Gulf South Conference winning streak to 30 and its overall winning streak to 34.
 
Junior Warren Kuhn (Johannesburg, South Africa) and senior Elio Latella (Sydney, Australia) won at number one doubles 8-2 while junior Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) and sophomore Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) won 8-5 at number two doubles.
 
Junior Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) and sophomore Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia/Colegio) won at number three doubles 8-4.
 
No. 8 Peyrot won at number one singles 6-7, 6-4, 10-8 while Kuhn won 7-5, 6-1 at number two singles. No. 30 Brasil defeated No. 19 Francesco Yim Kim 6-3, 6-1 at number three singles while Borrero won at number four singles 6-4, 6-4. Brasil improves his record against nationally ranked opponents to 2-0 on the year.
 
Latella won at number five singles 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 while sophomore Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) fell at number six singles 5-7, 5-7.
 
West Florida will continue the season on the road next week against a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents. UWF will face Shorter on Friday, March 6 at 2 p.m. ET before facing Lee on Saturday, March 7 at 9 a.m. ET.
