PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 2-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team defeated No. 17 BYU Hawaii 7-2 before defeating Gulf South Conference opponent Alabama Huntsville 5-1 at home on Friday afternoon at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. West Florida (15-1, 6-0 GSC) improves to 8-1 on the year against nationally ranked opponents and remains unbeaten in matches against south region opponents.

Warren Kuhn (Johannesburg, South Africa) and senior
Elio Latella (Sydney, Australia) fell to BYU Hawaii's No. 20-ranked doubles team of Martin Chojnacki and Yevhen Zakharov 7-9 at number one doubles.
Junior
Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) and sophomore
Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) won their 14
th straight match at number two doubles by a score of 8-4 and improve to 3-0 against regionally ranked opponents on the year. Junior
Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) and sophomore
Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia/Colegio) won their 10
th consecutive match at number three doubles by a score of 8-2.
No. 9 Peyrot defeated No. 39 Chojnacki at number one singles 6-4, 6-4 and improves to 2-1 against nationally ranked opponents on the year. No. 25 Kuhn won at number two singles 6-4, 6-1 and improves to 3-3 against regionally ranked opponents on the year.
No. 31 Brasil won at number three singles 6-2, 6-3 while Borrero fell 6-7, 4-6 at number four singles.
Latella won at number five singles 6-1, 6-2 while sophomore
Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) won 6-4, 7-6 at number six singles.
No. 2 West Florida 5, Alabama Huntsville 1 Brasil and Peyrot fell 6-8 at number one doubles while Borrero and Tellez won at number two doubles 8-1. Junior
Valentim Goncalves (Curitiba, Brazil) and Latella won 8-0 at number three doubles.
Sophomore
Carlos Moura (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) won 6-4, 6-4 at number four singles while junior
Tom Dynka (Kitchener, Ontario) won 6-2, 6-1 at number five singles. Goncalves won 6-3, 6-2 at number six singles.
West Florida will next face Florida Southern on Saturday, March 28 at 9 a.m. CT. West Florida will wrap up the weekend by facing Delta State on Sunday, March 29 at 9 a.m. CT before facing Christian Brothers later that day at 1 p.m. CT.
