No. 1 West Florida men's tennis defeats Shorter 8-1

West Florida improves to 3-0 in Gulf South Conference play

RESULTS

ROME, Ga. –
The No. 1-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team defeated Gulf South Conference opponent Shorter 8-1 on the road Friday afternoon. West Florida (6-0, 3-0 GSC) extends its Gulf South Conference winning streak to 31 and its overall winning streak to 35.
 
Junior Warren Kuhn (Johannesburg, South Africa) and senior Elio Latella (Sydney, Australia) won at number one doubles by a score of 8-3 while junior Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) and sophomore Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) won 8-1 at number two doubles.
 
Junior Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) and sophomore Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia/Colegio) won at number three doubles by a score of 8-3.
 
No. 8 Peyrot won at number one singles 7-5, 6-3 while Kuhn fell at number two singles after retiring in the first set.
 
No. 30 Brasil improved to 6-0 on the year in singles play with a 6-2, 6-3 win at number three singles while Borrero won 6-1, 6-0 at number four singles. Latella swept his opponent at number five singles 6-0, 6-0 while sophomore Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) won 6-2, 6-2 at number six singles.
 
West Florida will continue the season on the road Saturday, March 7 as they face GSC opponent Lee at 9 a.m. ET.
