Argos win fourth straight NCAA DII South Regional championship

West Florida defeats SSC opponent Rollins 5-1 in the NCAA DII South Regional championship

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 3-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team defeated Sunshine State Conference opponent Rollins 5-1 in the NCAA Division II South Regional championship match on Sunday afternoon at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. West Florida (26-3, 9-0 GSC) will next compete in NCAA DII Tennis National Championships in Surprise, Arizona on May 13-16.
 
This is the fourth consecutive and the 15th overall NCAA DII South Regional championship for the UWF men's tennis program.
 
West Florida's No. 4-ranked doubles team of junior Warren Kuhn (Johannesburg, South Africa) and senior Elio Latella (Sydney, Australia) defeated Rollins' No. 20-ranked doubles team of Anton Bettink and Adrian Di Felice 8-6 at number one doubles. Kuhn and Latella improve to 4-2 against nationally ranked opponents on the year.
 
UWFs No. 17-ranked doubles team of junior Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) and sophomore Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) defeated Patrick Sell and Jacobo Herrero 8-3 at number two doubles. Brasil and Peyrot improves to 5-1 against regionally ranked opponents on the year.
 
Junior Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) and sophomore Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia/Colegio) fell to Robin Marchione and Malte Christesen 6-8 at number three doubles.
 
Redshirt freshman Sebastian Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia) defeated Keegan Burger 6-0, 6-2 at number six singles en route to his 11th straight singles win before No. 34 Brasil defeated Robin Marchione 6-2, 6-2 at number three singles.
 
No. 29 Kuhn clinched the championship with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Patrick Sell at number two singles.
 
West Florida will next compete in NCAA DII Tennis National Championships in Surprise, Arizona on May 13-16.
