LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The No. 4-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team opened up Gulf South Conference play with an 8-1 victory on the road against No. 38 West Alabama on Friday afternoon. West Florida (2-0, 1-0 GSC) wins its 41
st straight match against a conference opponent and earns its second win over a ranked opponent this season.

Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) and junior
Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) defeated UWA's Caspar Schuetze and Henrik Sinkko 8-3 at number one doubles. Senior
Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) and sophomore
Sebastian Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia) defeated Nicolai Jochamowitz and Andrii Stratiienko 8-6 at number three doubles.
Senior
Juan Pablo Boada (La Paz, Bolivia) and junior
Pedro Roese (Novo Hamburgo, Brazil) fell at number two doubles by a score of 4-8 to UWA's Julius Kaverinen and Christopher Wood.
No. 11 Peyrot defeated Kaverinen 6-4, 6-2 at number one singles while No. 22 Brasil won at number two singles 7-5, 6-1 over Schuetze.
Boada won at number three singles with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Wood while Sanchez swept Jochamowitz 6-0, 6-0 at number four singles.
Junior
Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) came back from a first-set loss to defeat Stratiienko 2-6, 6-1, 11-9 at number five singles while junior
Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia) got a win at number six singles by a score of 7-6, 6-2 over Sinkko.
West Florida will continue conference play on the road tomorrow against No. 36 North Alabama at 11 a.m. UWF will wrap up the weekend in Huntsville, Alabama, with a match against Alabama Huntsville on Sunday, February 14 at 1 p.m.
