PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida looks to win its sixth game in its last seven contests against Stillman College on Wednesday afternoon. UWF enters the game with an 8-6 record, while Stillman, a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, has started the season 2-14.
 
ARGOS TAKE TWO FROM VALDOSTA STATE: West Florida went into last weekend's series against No. 18-nationally ranked Valdosta State looking to win its second consecutive Gulf South Conference series to start the 2016 conference slate... UWF posted its third shut out of the season, a total that is second most in the GSC, in game one of Saturday's double header... UWF would be shut out in game two for the first time since March 14th of last season, when the Argos were blanked 2-0 against Alabama Huntsville... UWF would go on to win Sunday's contest, needing 11 innings to beat the Blazers 3-2.
 
NO-WALK(ER) O'CONNOR: Walker O'Connor has emerged as one of the conference's top pitchers in the early goings of the 2016 season, posting a 1.09 ERA through his first four starts, good for fourth best in the GSC... After throwing seven shutout innings on Saturday, O'Connor continued his streak of not allowing an earned run to 21 games... With the streak, O'Connor now sits second in program history with a 2.22 career ERA, only trailing Billy Lawrence (1994-95), who posted a 2.04 ERA during his time as an Argonaut... O'Connor has only allowed three walks all season, which is the third lowest total in the GSC and good for a 1.09 per nine average... O'Connor's 1.09 BB/9 is second best in the GSC... O'Connor stands fourth in program history with a 1.62 career BB/9 average.
 
I'LL HAVE THE WALK OFF HAM: Kyle Hamner recorded his second walk off as a member of the UWF baseball team, hitting a RBI single in the 11th inning in the series finale against Valdosta State on Sunday... Hamner also had a walk off bases-loaded walk in the 12th inning against Lee on March 28, 2015... In the Sunday effort, Hamner went 3-for-5 while scoring a run... Hamner increased his batting average .038 percentage points over the series against Valdosta State, going 4-9 against the Blazers.
 
HOLD THE K, PLEASE: Hamner has the second most at bats in NCAA Division II for a player who has not struck out in 2016, having 44 at bats with no strikeouts... Jared Maner of Morehouse, is the only player tougher to strikeout than Hamner, having 56 at bats on the season.
 
GOING GREENE: Alex Greene currently rides a career-best and team season-best 10 game hitting streak, having safely hit in all 10 games he has played in this season... Greene's previous best was five games, which he has done twice in his career... If Greene safely records a hit in his next game, he would tie UWF's 2015 season best, as Hamner set the team best with an 11-game hitting streak... Greene is the sixth UWF player since the start of the 2012 season to record a hitting streak of at least 10 games.
 
THE 'PEN IS MIGHTIER: The UWF bullpen has posted an outstanding 2.13 ERA through the team's first 14 games, allowing just 12 earned runs in 50.2 innings pitched... Three members of the Argonauts pen, including Steven McClellan, Josh McLaney and Jarrod Petree have ERA's under 1.00... The UWF bullpen only allowed one earned run over 12 innings against Valdosta State.
 
RELIEF ASSASSIN: Steven McClellan, who has emerged as the Argos' closer for the 2016 season, has thrown nine innings this season across five appearances and has not allowed a run while only surrendering seven hits... McClellan's 0.87 WHIP is the best on the team, while his 8.0 K/BB ratio is also the best on the team... Although not typical for a closer, McClellan has two appearances of three innings where he has thrived as well…  McClellan has recorded a team-high two saves on the season, which is in a tie for fourth most in the GSC.
 
LEFT OUT TO DRY: UWF relievers have stranded 60% of runners inherited this season, highlighted by Jarrod Petree who has stranded four inherited runners on base this season... The percentage is similar to last season, as in 2015 West Florida relievers stranded 62% of inherited runners.
 
POSTING ZEROS: UWF led the GSC with 10 shutouts in 2015 and is on a similar track for 2016, having three shutouts through the first 14 games... Three shutouts is the second most in the GSC, and the fifth most in NCAA Division II... UWF set a new 2016 best, posting 16 consecutive scoreless innings last week stretching from the end of last Wednesday's game against Spring Hill to the second game of Saturday's double-header against Valdosta State.
 
FUN WITH TWO: Nic Strasser has continued to produce at the place with two outs, as the sophomore has a team-high eight two-out RBI and has only left 10 runners on base... Strasser is batting a team-best .476 (10-21) with two outs in 2016, while Jean Figueroa is in second batting .440 with two down... As a team, UWF is batting .320 with two outs while their opponents are held to a .256 average.
 
ANY WAY, ANY HOW: Justin Ambrosino is the only Argonaut to have safely reached base in all 14 games this season and has posted at least one hit in 12 of 14 games in 2016... Ambrosino's .393 on base percentage is fourth best on the team, while his eight walks are second most... Ambrosino is also hitting .462 with runners in scoring position and has a .571 success rate in advancing runners.
 
ROTATION DEPTH: Anthony Mazzurco became the fifth Argonaut to start a game in 2016, throwing five quality innings and only surrendering one earned run on four hits in his first start... UWF's three current weekend starters, consisting of O'Connor, JT Granat and Mazzurco have combined for a 1.60 ERA across 12 appearances and nine starts.
 
RISP-Y BUSINESS: Jean Figueroa has been a catalyst when the Argos get runners in scoring position, batting .471 in that situation... Figueroa is in a tie for second place on the team with two multiple-RBI games and second on the team with 12 RBI on the season... Figueroa is hitting .448 with runners on which includes a team-high 13 hits with runners on base... As a team, UWF is hitting .310 with runners in scoring position while holding their opponents to a .195 average... Alex Greene has displayed success with runners in scoring position, going 6-for-9 this season.
 
NATIONAL RANKINGS: UWF's seven home runs this season is the 37th most in NCAA Division II... UWF's 2.43 ERA team ERA is the 11th best in NCAA Division II... UWF has the 14th best strikeout-to-walk ratio, at 3.84... UWF's 2.35 BB/9 is the 16th best... West Florida's 1.20 WHIP is the 30th best in the nation… Walker O'Connor's three wins is tied for ninth most in the country.
 
SOUTH REGION RANKINGS: West Florida's 2.43 ERA is second best in the South Region... UWF's 8.42 hits allowed per game is eighth best in the region... West Florida's 3.84 strikeout-to-walk ratio is the second best in the region and only 0.01 behind South Region leader West Alabama... UWF's 1.20 WHIP is fourth best in the South Region... West Florida's 2.35 BB/9 is the best in the region.
 
SCOUTING STILLMAN: The Tigers have struggled through their first 16 games of the 2016 season, owning a 2-14 record... One of their wins comes from a 8-3 victory on Feb. 17 over 2015 GSC champion West Alabama... Stillman is hitting .220 as a team while owning a team 7.66 ERA... Through their first 16 games, Stillman has been outscored 138-46... Nick Vitale leads the Stillman lineup with a .320 batting average while Josh McDaniel provides some middle-of-the-order pop with a team-high four home runs and 10 RBI... Josh Freeman and Mitch Peterson have made midweek starts this season and own ERAs of 4.00 and 22.50, respectively.
 
SERIES HISTORY: UWF holds the advantage in the all-time series against Stillman, having won nine of ten matchups against the Tigers... UWF and Stillman have not played since the 2011 NCAA South Regional, where UWF would go on to win by a score of 10-1... The Argos have not played Stillman in the regular season since 2008, where UWF hosted the Tigers for a three game series with UWF taking two of three.
