After going 1-1 on Saturday, UWF now stands at 13-8 on the season with a 7-4 Gulf South Conference mark, while Alabama Huntsville sits at 17-6 overall with a 9-2 league mark.
Game One: Alabama Huntsville 4, West Florida 2 West Florida jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as

Walker O'Connor was sent to the mound for game one of Saturday's twinbill against a red-hot Alabama Huntsville lineup that scored 37 runs in its last four games and had a Gulf South Conference-best .354 team batting average. The Chargers were quick to respond to UWF's first inning tally as UAH recorded two runs in the home half of the second inning.
Jarrod Petree would take over for O'Connor in the third inning and would provide 5.1 innings of solid relief for the Argonauts. Petree left both of his inherited runners stranded and only allowed one earned run in the effort.
UAH would tack on a run in the third and sixth inning, giving the Chargers a 4-1 lead heading into the seventh inning.
UWF attempted a rally in the top of the eighth, as
Nic Strasser was able to reach on an error before
Alex Greene followed with a single to give UWF a two-man-on, no-out situation. Strasser would tag up on a Figueroa foul out, and Price would bring home his second RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly to score Strasser. UAH was able to leave Greene stranded after getting
Justin Ambrosino to foul out to the first basemen.
O'Connor was charged with his first loss of the season after going 2.2 innings with three earned runs and eight hits allowed.
UAH starting pitcher Wilson Adams tossed eight innings, allowing one run on seven hits for his fourth win of the season.
Price led the Argonauts offensively, going 2-for-3 with both of UWF's RBI.
Alex Greene went 2-for-4 at the plate as the shortstop finished game one with a .351 average on the season.
Game Two: West Florida 4, Alabama Hunstville 3 Alabama Huntsville continued to swing the bats well in the early stages of game two, posting a two-run first inning and adding another run in the second for an early 3-0 lead. UWF was quick to respond, as the Argonauts would post a four-run third inning to build a 4-3 lead.
To get the scoring started in the fourth,
Justin Ambrosino walked with the bases loaded to bring home
Nic Strasser. With the bases loaded,
Jimmy Redovian singled through the left side to score Ambrosino and
John Price and knot the game at 3-3.
Kyle Hamner, the very next batter, singled to centerfield to have Ambrosino cross home plate and give UWF a 4-3 lead.
UWF was able to preserve its 4-3 lead, as starting pitcher
Brandon Nagem was able to settle down nicely after a rocky start. After allowing three runs in the first two innings, Nagem allowed just one hit in his next four innings of work. The southpaw got his second win of the season and finished with six innings pitched, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six and walking none.
UAH had a prime opportunity to put together a comeback in the sixth, as the Chargers were threatening with runners on first and second and one out. Nagem was able to induce a ground ball from UAH centerfielder Wright Hackett for a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat.
Steven McClellan recorded his GSC-high fourth save of the season while striking out two UAH batters.
Hamner led the team offensively, going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Redovian went 2-for-3 with a team-best two RBI.
After going 4-for-7 on the day, Hamner increased his hitting streak to eight games, while Greene extended his on base streak to 17 games with a 3-for-6 showing.
Tomorrow's rubber game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. UWF' righty
JT Granat is scheduled to start on the mound for the Argonauts.
