LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 4-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team defeated Florida Southern 8-1 on the road Friday afternoon. West Florida (11-2, 5-0 GSC) improves its record against south region opponents to 8-1 with the win.

Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) and junior
Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) improved to 11-2 on the year by defeating Jose de Sario and Brian Slivonik 8-4 at number one doubles. Brasil and Peyrot were ranked No. 2 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association south region rankings.
Juniors
Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) and
Pedro Roese (Novo Hamburgo, Brazil) defeated Miguel Alvarez-Hevia and Laurent Mailloux 8-5 at number two doubles.
Senior
Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) and junior
Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia) improved to 6-0 on the year by defeating Fabian Lundberg and Arthur Viallaneix 8-6 at number three doubles.
Senior
Juan Pablo Boada (La Paz, Bolivia) improved to 9-3 by defeating Lundberg 7-5, 6-3 at number one singles. Boada was ranked No. 13 in the latest ITA south region rankings.
No. 22 Brasil improved to 8-3 by defeating de Sario 6-1, 6-3 at number two singles. Brasil was ranked No. 14 in the latest ITA south region rankings.
Sophomore
Sebastian Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia) defeated Slivonik 6-4, 6-2 at number three singles while Borrero defeated Alvarez-Hevia at number four singles by a score of 6-4, 6-3. Roese defeated Oscar Soderlund 6-0, 6-3 at number six singles.
Junior
Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) fell to Viallaneix 4-6, 5-7 at number five singles.
West Florida will wrap up its road trip on Saturday, March 19 against No. 26 Rollins at 10 a.m.
