MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The UWF men's tennis team advanced to the Gulf South Conference title match for the 17th time with a 5-0 win over fourth-seeded West Alabama at the O'Connor Tennis Center at Lagoon Park Friday.

The top-seeded and No. 4 ranked Argonauts (18-5) will face second-seeded and No. 15 Valdosta State (14-6) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams have met in a GSC final 15 times previously with the Argonauts winning 10 times. The rivals have combined for 22 league crowns overall and the last 21 men's championships.

On Friday, UWF won all three doubles matches to surge ahead 3-0. In singles action,
Alex Peyrot defeated Caspar Schuetze, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1, while
Douglas Boe clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Nicolai Jochamowitz at No. 4.

"UWA plays some good doubles and it was good to get all three of those points to start it off today," UWF head coach
Derrick Racine said. "Alex was very efficient at No. 1 and Douglas got the fifth team point."
