No. 4 UWF men's tennis sweeps Delta State 5-0 on Sunday

West Florida improves to 12-1 in matches against south region opponents

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 4-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team swept Delta State 5-0 at home on Sunday morning. West Florida (15-3, 9-0 GSC) extends its GSC winning streak to 49 and improves to 12-1 in matches against south region opponents.
 
Junior Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) earned his 40th career singles victory by defeating Guillermo Cerrato 6-2, 6-1 at number three singles. Boe improves to 13-3 on the year with the win.
 
Sophomore Sebastian Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia) defeated Timo Schmitz 6-2, 6-0 at number two singles while junior Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia) defeated Brunno Freitas 6-1, 6-1 at number four singles.
 
Junior Pedro Roese (Novo Hamburgo, Brazil) earned a win at number one singles after Alexi Turc retired after the second set.
 
Tellez and senior Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) were credited with a victory after DSU forfeited the doubles competition.
 
West Florida will next play host to No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic on Friday, April 8 at 10 a.m. before hosting No. 1 Hawaii Pacific on Saturday, April 9 at 9 a.m. UWF will wrap up the regular season on Sunday, April 10 against Georgia Gwinnett at 3 p.m.
