UWF men's basketball signs Brett Carter

Carter is second freshman in 2016 signing class

PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF men's basketball head coach Jeff Burkhamer announced Brett Carter, Jr., as one of the final signees in West Florida's 2016 class. Carter is the second freshman in the class, joining Jamal Clarke.

Carter is a 6-foot-3 sharpshooting guard from South Lake Christian High School in Huntersville, North Carolina, where he led his team to an 18-11 record while averaging 15.5 points per game and shooting 45 percent from three-point range as a senior.

"Brett is an outstanding shooter," Burkhamer said. "He's a gym rat, he is a very hard worker, and he loves to play the game. We believe Brett has a chance to be one of the best shooters we've had at UWF."

Carter earned first team All-Metrolina Athletic Conference honors in his senior campaign, putting up double-digit scoring totals in 20 games and scoring a season-best 30 points in a game against Concord First Assembly.

"I feel this is a great opportunity for me," Carter said. "I want to get my degree and have the opportunity to follow my dad as a successful businessman someday. On the court, I look forward to improving all areas of my game, and I look forward to being a great teammate."
