PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 1 ranked UWF men's tennis team defeated Mississippi College, 9-0, in a matchup of the only two remaining undefeated teams in Gulf South Conference play Friday at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

UWF (19-1, 7-0) won its 13th-consecutive match and shutout an opponent for the 12th time in 10 contests this season. MC fell to 8-5 overall and 4-1 in GSC action.

The doubles matches were very competitive but UWF was able to win all three by either an 8-6 or 8-5 score.

The Argonauts made it a 4-0 lead when
Douglas Boe won his match at No. 5, 6-1, 6-1. UWF clinched the win on third-ranked
Alex Peyrot's 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 1 position. Peyrot won the final five games after being down 2-1 in the second set.

Serdar Bojadjiev,
Lucas Sanchez and
Robin Rafaitin all earned points with straight-set victories at the Nos. 2, 4 and 6 positions, respectively.

Sebastian Sanchez closed the day's play with a 7-6, 6-7, 10-4 win at the No. 3 spot as he improved to 12-0 in dual competition.

The Argonauts will look to secure the GSC regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the postseason tournament on Saturday with a doubleheader against Delta State and Christian Brothers, beginning at Noon.
It will be Argonaut Athletic Club Day at the courts, with free popsicles, free drinks, free Argo Sunglasses, free Marco's Pizza and free Firehouse Subs Gift Cards being given away. AAC members are asked to present their membership card at the registration table.
