#1 UWF Eliminates Alabama Huntsville with 5-0 GSC Tourney Win

The Argonauts won their 18th-straight match

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 1 ranked UWF men's tennis team defeated Alabama Huntsville 5-0 in the opening round of the 2017 Gulf South Conference Tournament at the Lagoon Park Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon.
 
UWF (24-1) advanced to Friday's semifinals where it will face Mississippi College at 1:30 p.m.
 
The Argos swept the doubles matches for the 19th time in 2017 before receiving two singles decisions for the overall victory.
 
In doubles play, the nation's top-ranked duo of Alex Peyrot and Pedro Dumont won their match 8-4. At the No. 2 position, Gabriel Dias and Pedro Roese remained perfect on the season at 16-0 with an 8-3 victory. Warren Kuhn and Pablo Tellez secured an 8-2 win at the third slot for their eight-consecutive win.
 
With action moving to singles, it was Peyrot and Dumont who secured the two necessary points with wins at the Nos. 1 and 5 positions, respectively.
