MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 1 ranked UWF men's tennis team completed a perfect Gulf South Conference Tournament with a 5-0 win over No. 7 Valdosta State in the championship match at Lagoon Park Tennis Complex on Saturday.

UWF (26-1) won its league-record 13th championship and fifth in the last six years. The Argonauts will bring a 20-match win streak into next weekend's NCAA Regional. UWF is expected to host one of the 16 regional tournaments when the complete field of 48 is announced Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. Central time on NCAA.com.

The Argonauts put the pressure on from the outset, winning all three doubles matches for a 3-0 lead. The nation's top-ranked doubles team of
Alex Peyrot and
Pedro Dumont claimed an 8-2 win before being matched with the same score by
Gabriel Dias and
Pedro Roese at the No. 2 position.
Warren Kuhn and
Pablo Tellez made it a perfect round of pairs with an 8-5 win at the No. 3 spot.

"We played some good doubles today and the team has been solid all year," UWF head coach
Derrick Racine said. "When you start off as well in doubles as we have this season, when you get to singles we feel really good we should be able to win."

Serdar Bojadjiev knocked off 42nd-ranked Fernando Rivas 6-1, 6-4 to make it a 4-0 UWF lead. 20th-ranked
Gabriel Dias clinched the title for the Argos with a 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot.

"The guys were very motivated this week to get the trophy back," Racine added. "They wanted to get this bad after last year's match slipped away on them."
