MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The GSC weekend trip to Alabama comes to an end as the No. 1 Men's Tennis Team (5-0) downs Montevallo (5-1) 8-1 on Monday afternoon in Montevallo, Alabama.
The Argos picked up two out of the three doubles points possible, with Serdar Bojadjiev and Nicolas Lecoutre as well as Nicholas Springer and Alfonso Castellano taking down their opponents 8-2 and 8-3, respectively. Falcon duo Trompler/Brecht van Buggenhout earned the lone point against the Argos, defeating Lucas Sanchez and Robin Rafaitin 8-5 on court three.
The Argos displayed an impressive showing in singles, sweeping all six courts without dropping a single set. Sophomore Nicholas Springer picked up his first singles win of the season on court six, rolling past James Bloomer 6-0, 6-4. Rafaitin also added another point to the scoreboard with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Daniel Del Val 6-4, 6-2 on court four. For the second time during the weekend, No. 23 Alfonso Castellano clenched the match by a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Jan Fraederich. Additional wins came from No. 7 Bojedjiev, No. 40 LeCoutre, and Juan Motta.
After this action packed weekend, the UWF Men's Tennis continues their 31 match-winning streak from the previous season. A tough weekend of competition awaits the Argos as they travel to Orlando, Florida to face off against regional opponents No. 16 Rollins, No. 10 Embry-Riddle, and Florida Southern.
