PENSACOLA, Fla.- The No. 6 UWF Men's Tennis (20-2, 11-0) controlled Hawaii Pacific University (1-10) 9-0 on a windy Friday morning at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
The Argos now own a 10 match winning streak and improve to 20-2 for the season.
UWF raced to a 2-0 lead after both No. 14 ranked dup Serdar Bojedjiev and Lucas Sanchez as well as Alfonso Castellano and Nicholas Springer powered past their opponents 8-2. Despite falling down an early break, LeCoutre and Cabrera were determine to keep their 12 match winning streak alive. After pressing in several services games, the UWF duo was able to break back to even up the match. At 8-7, LeCoutre delivered an unreturnable passing shot to seal the third point for the Argos.
UWF stepped up another level after the doubles, and the Sharks had no chance in the singles. On court two, No. 8 Bodjejiev dropped only 2 games to add another point to the overall score. The clinch came from court five as Robin Rafaitin dominated Erro 6-1, 6-1. The remaining matches were all won in straight sets by each of the Argos.
The Argos will conclude regular season play on Sunday at noon against Xavier University. Senior Alfonso Castellano will also be recognized as UWF will celebrate this Senior Day match at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
