PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 12/23 UWF (19-8, 11-1 GSC) will take on No. 2/6 Delta State (19-5, 11-3 GSC) in a three-game set this weekend.
The series between the top two teams in the Gulf South Conference kicks off with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Cleveland and concludes with a single game at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
The Argos are 13-2 in the last 15 games. UWF leads Delta State by one game in the GSC standings. West Florida is coming off a 14-0 win vs. Wisconsin-Whitewater at Blue Wahoos Stadium Wednesday. UWF returns home Mar. 30 vs. Shorter.
UWF RISING IN NATIONAL POLLS
* UWF rose in the latest iteration of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Top 25 this week. The Argos are now No. 12 nationally.
* The Argonauts are also ranked in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 25. UWF baseball rose there to No. 23 Tuesday.
* Both rankings are season-highs for the Argos, who began the year outside the Top 25 in each poll.
* The team also remained No. 3 in the latest South Region poll released by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
ARGOS GET WIN AT BLUE WAHOOS STADIUM
* UWF baseball ran past Wisconsin-Whitewater 14-0 in the program's first-ever game at Blue Wahoos Stadium Wednesday evening. Seniors

Robert Lopez combined for seven RBIs as the Argos moved to 19-8 overall this season.

Josh Pahlad (2-1) went two innings as the starter, setting the UWF staff up for its third shutout of the season.

Jay Simpson,
Hunter Lucas,
Kirk Maddox, and
Jared Hatch combined for seven scoreless innings behind Pahlad. Argo hurlers stranded 10 baserunners.

Adam Imwalle finished with four hits plus a run and two RBIs.
Trevor Payne reached four times and finished with two hits, two walks and two runs. Every player who batted for UWF reached base at least once.
GULF SOUTH CONFERENCE LEADERS

Matt Sullivan is second in the conference with 30 runs scored this season. He is tenth in batting average (.371) and fourth in slugging percentage (.685). He is 10th in OBP (.478) and tied along with teammate
Robert Lopez for third in the conference doubles contest with 9.
* Sullivan is fourth in the conference with 26 RBIs. Lopez is eighth with 23 RBIs. Lopez is fifth with 19 walks.

Andrew Vaccacio is fourth in the conference with a 1.99 ERA.
Tony Kucera is ninth with a 2.81 ERA.

Josh Pahlad are tied for second in the GSC with three saves each.
* UWF is second in the conference in team batting average (.300), second in team ERA (3.13) and first in fielding percentage (.974). The Argos are the only GSC club in the top three in all three categories.
SCOUTING DELTA STATE
* West Florida and Delta State are the only two teams ranked in the top three of the conference in earned run average and fielding percentage.
* The Statesmen lead the GSC in earned run average (1.66). Hunter Riggins (1.19), Dalton Minton (1.44) and Melvin Frazier (1.80) own the three lowest ERAs in the conference individually.
* DSU is currently ranked No. 2 in the NCBWA South Region, No. 6 in the NCBWA national poll and No. 2 nationally in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.
* UWF is 28-33 all-time vs. the Statesmen. The Argos and Statesmen did not meet last season, though the Argos earned a berth in the GSC Tournament, which was held in Cleveland.
* UWF is 7-4 vs. Delta State when both teams are ranked nationally.
