PENSACOLA, Fla.- For the first time in 2020, the UWF men's tennis team will play at home at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on Sunday morning against Lee University at 10 am.
The third ranked men Argos stand at 5-1 (3-0 GSC) which includes a 6-1 romp over Rollins in Valdosta on Friday morning.
For the men, they did not start out quite as dominant, but they have been on a tear recently as they have won their last three matches 6-1, 5-2, and 6-1. Despite falling in their first match of the season to Georgia Gwinnett 4-0, the men have rebounded nicely. 11th ranked national singles player, Serdar Bojadiev, has guided the team going 4-0 during singles play.
He has been aided by fellow seniors
Juan Cabrera and
Juan Motta. The duo, both ranked inside the regional top 20, has been solid during the Argos winning streak only losing a combined three matches with Motta returning against Rollins after missing the last two matches because of injury. Freshman
Adam Svensson has also been key and he was rewarded by winning GSC freshman of the week.
About Lee: The men come into the match at 2-2 while the women stand at 3-1, with their lone loss coming against 17th ranked Tusculum University. Junior Bruno Medeiros and Senior Antonio Pons are ones to watch on the men's side as they currently reside as the third ranked doubles team in the south region, winning all four matches this season. Pons' brother, Christian, is also on the team.
