Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The UWF men's tennis team falls to the No. 1 seed Barry University 1-4 in their second match of the ITA National Tennis Team Indoor Championships. The No.6 ranked Argonauts sit at 2-1 on the young season.
To start off the match, the Argonauts went 1-2 in doubles.
Albin Ekenros and
Salvador Bandeira fell 2-6 in the No. 2 position to give the Buccaneers the point.
Facundo Bermejo and partner
Tomas Descarrega in the No. 1 position, carried the momentum for the Argonauts. The match went back-and-forth and had to be determined by a tiebreaker, which was won by the Argos. This would be the only doubles points the Argos would receive in this match.
Singles play was another back-and-forth banter with the Argos dropping five matches to surrender the match. In the No.1 position,
Facundo Bermejo fell to the #3 ranked Alejandro Ibanez Gallego 5-7, 4-6 in a high-intensity match.
Tomas Descarrega played as the No. 2 position, dropping the Argos third point falling 4-6, 2-6. Juan Cabrero was victorious as the No. 3 position against the third nationally ranked player in the country, he won both sets 6-2, 6-4.
West Florida will play for third place against the No. 3 seed Saint Leo Lions in the ITA Indoor Championships on Sunday, Feb. 20.
Tomorrow will be the final day from Indianapolis for the Argonauts to close out the weekend at 5:30 PM (EST).
