FINAL RESULTS

LAKELAND, Fla. – Elias Haavisto and Cameron Bonner each turned in top 10 individual finishes to help the No. 8 UWF men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Matlock Collegiate Classic on Tuesday.
 
UWF's 859 54-hole total marked its second-lowest in five event this season while the fourth place showing matches its best. No. 1 Barry won the event with a 847, ahead of Florida Southern at 850 and No. 14 Nova Southeastern at 851. The top four teams were the only ones among the 15 schools to finish the tournament in red numbers.
 
Haavisto finished in second place overall, shooting a 1-under-par 71 in the final round for a 7-under-par 209 total. It was the sophomore's third top five effort in five tournaments this season. A.J. Ewart of Barry won the event by five shots at 204.
 
Bonner recorded his second -consecutive top-10 at the Matlock, posting a 71-69-75=215 for a 1-under- total and a tie for tenth. Both his finish and score were season highs for the junior from Pensacola.
 
Graduate student Patrick Poate had the low final round for the Argos with a 2-under-par 70 to make the largest jump in the entire field, claiming 20 spots into 23rd place with a 75-75-70=219.
 
Chris Ayers shot a 75 to run his total to 221 and a tie for 26th, while Jake DeZoort tied for 40th at 225 following a 76.
 
UWF will return to competition March 6-8 when they compete in the Las Vegas Desert Classic in Henderson, Nevada.
