Men's Golf in Third After First Round In Las Vegas

The Argonauts are three shots out of first

LAS VEGAS, Nev.
- The seventh-ranked UWF men's golf team shot a 285 to open play at the Las Vegas Desert Classic on Sunday, placing them in a tie for third place.

The 285 is the third-lowest round for UWF this season.

The Argonauts had all four counters at even par or better, led by Elias Haavisto with a 2-under-par 70 to put him in sixth place. It is his 12th round at par or better this year out of 16.

Chris Ayers posted a 71 - his second-lowest this season - while Cameron Bonner and Jake DeZoort both finished the round at even par. Patrick Poate shot a 76.

Tournament-host Missouri-St. Louis is in first place after a 282. No. 10 Central Missouri is in second at 283 and St. Mary's (Texas) is tied with the Argos at 285. 

UWF, UMSL and UCM will be paired together on Monday and go off holes 1-3 in the 8 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (10 a.m. CST) shotgun start.
