Fenton Paces Argonauts Cross Country

UWF in action next weekend at the UNA Cross Country Invitational

RESULTS

BOONE, N.C. – The University of West Florida men's cross country team started its season on Friday evening with an 11th-place finish at the Covered Bridge Open, hosted by Appalachian State.

In a stacked field that included Division I opponents, the Argos finished ahead of fellow Division II schools Lenoir-Rhyne and Lees-McRae.

The team was paced by Zach Fenton, who finished 17th overall with a 25:58.37 in the first regular-season action this year. Fenton has finished first for UWF in all seven career races he has competed in.

Niceville, Florida, native Parker Nunley was next for West Florida, taking a top-100 spot with a 28:35.80 in the 8K. Ivan De La Cruz was close behind, at 106th overall while running a 28:55.94. The time for De La Cruz was a career-best, nearly a minute faster than his 29:48 at last year's Gulf South Conference Championships.

Jack Forbes and Cademon Galloway finished neck-and-neck, running the race in 29:52.30 and 29:58.22, respectively. Freshman Tristan Woods rounded out the lineup with a 31:17.35 in his first collegiate competition.

The team is back in action on Saturday, September 10, at the UNA Cross Country Invitational in Florence, Alabama.
