PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF Men's Cross Country team travels to Montevallo, Alabama on Saturday for the NCAA South Region Championships 10K at 9:15 AM. Tickets are $10 for the event and must be purchased online.  Children 12 and under get in free.
 
West Florida will feature in the meet that includes teams from the Gulf South Conference, Sunshine State Conference and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  UWF finished 15^th in 2022, with Lee winning the event.
 
In 2023, UWF has been among the top three finishing teams in three of their six events, with a sixth-place finish at the GSC Championships in their latest meet.  Zach Fenton, a redshirt junior from Sykesville, Maryland, earned All-GSC honors for the third straight year as he ran a 24:50.1 at the GSC Championships.
 
Fenton has been the top finisher in each meet that UWF has competed in during the 2023 season, which includes adding to his impressive six top-ten times in the 8K in program history.  Zach also took the individual title at the UNA Invitational on September 9^th, with a time of 24:43.28.
 
Nathan Deboutez and Parker Nunley return for their second NCAA South Region Championships as they finished 84^thand 89^th overall in 2022, while Ivan De La Cruz and Cademon Galloway had marks of 35:25.4 and 36:13.8 to place among the top 110.
 
The top three, seven person teams will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, along with 10 at-large teams from across the nation.  Additionally, 24 individuals from around the country will also advance to the NCAA Championships.
