BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UWF men's basketball standout Daniel Sofield was named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday following a strong performance in the Argonaut's two most recent contests.
 
Sofield averaged 25.5 points on 62 percent shooting in games against AUM and Montevallo. The senior from Jackson, N.J. opened the week with a 20-point effort against AUM on Thursday and then scored a career-high 31 points on 13-of-18 shooting in a 102-79 Senior Day win over Montevallo on Saturday.
 
He raised his season averages to 15.2 points per game and 44 percent shooting. He also made six 3-pointers last week to bring his season total to 56 and added to his UWF career record at 228.
 
UWF (13-13, 9-13 Gulf South) will return to play with a pair of road games next week, traveling to Alabama Huntsville (22-6, 17-5) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and West Alabama (21-5, 17-5) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
