PENSACOLA, Fla.- The No. 4 West Florida men's tennis team travels to Valdosta, Ga. for the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, April 28 against No. 5 seed Rollins. Friday's contest is slated for 3:00 p.m. (EST) at the VSU Tennis Courts.
The winner of this match will play the winner of No. 1 seed Valdosta versus No. 8 Spring Hill, which will take place on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. (EST). The winning team from each site will advance to the finals, May 12-16, in Orlando, Florida. Rollins College and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission will serve as hosts.

rd appearance under head coach
Derrick Racine. UWF enters the NCAA tournament with a 15-4 overall record and 4-2 record on the road.
West Florida had four athletes named to the All-GSC teams including
Tomas Descarrega and
Facundo Bermejo, who earned First Team honors.
Santiago Kearney and
Sebastian Rondon were named to the All-GSC Second Team.
The Argos ranks No. 6 in the latest ITA National rankings which was released on Wednesday. Bermejo and Descarrega rank No. 21 and No. 39 in the ITA singles ranking. Senior Bermejo is 14-2 from majority the No. 2 position. Junior Descarrega holds an 8-6 record from the No. 1 position.
Descarrega and Bermejo team up from the No. 1 position in doubles and rank No. 4 in the country with a 14-3 record as a pair. Â
Freshman Rondon leads the team with 15 wins from singles from throughout the lineup. Rondon and his teammate
Bernardo Costa are 6-5 in No. 2 doubles.
Last season, the Argos fell in the NCAA Men's South Regional final against No. 2 seed Barry 4-0.
SCOUTING THE TARS
Rollins holds a 17-6 overall and 5-2 record in the Sunshine State Conference. The Tars captured third in the SSC Tournament this season after defeating Embry-Riddle 4-2.
The Tars are making their 35
th NCAA postseason appearance and are ranked No. 13 in the country. As a program, Rollins has won two national titles at the NCAA tournament.
Rollins has two athletes ranked in ITA singles. Sophomore Luke Quaynor is ranked No. 49 in singles as the No. 2 player for the Tars. He has a 19-3 overall record. Efe Comu ranks No. 60 with a 14-7 overall record.
Quaynor and Comu team up as one of the top ranked doubles teams in the country. The pair is ranked No. 3 in the nation and are 13-4.
UWF VS. ROLLINS HISTORY
The last meetup between these two teams was on February 21, 2020 with the Argos winning 6-1. UWF holds the overall series record 12-0 over the Tars as they enter into Friday's contest.
