PEMBROKE, N.C. --- The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced their All-South Region Teams and major awards for the 2023 season.

Dalton Neuschwander: South Region Pitcher of the Year
Mike Jeffcoat: South Region Coach of the Year

Neuschwander was named NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Year and
Mike Jeffcoat earned his second NCBWA South Region Coach of the Year.

Neuschwander is the third pitcher in program history to earn the award and the first since 2015. In 92.1 innings pitched, Neuschwander holds a 2.05 ERA and holds his opponents to a .209 batting average. These numbers are the current top three best in the region.

The Argos landed four selections between the All-South Region First and Second Team. The last time UWF had four NCBWA selections was in 2011. Joining Neuschwander on the All-South Region First Team is
Darrien McDowell and named to All-South Region Second Team is
Kade Manderscheid and
Mike Scordo. This is the first NCBWA accolade for all four UWF players.

McDowell has a .667 slugging percentage along with a .374 batting average which is a top-10 best in the GSC.

Manderscheid is a top pitcher in the region. His 2.28 ERA is a top-five best in the conference. In 76.2 innings pitched, he held his opponents to 28 runs scored and has thrown 54 strikeouts.

Scordo is a big player who has stepped up behind the plate and is making this his best year yet at UWF. In 49 appearances, he has a .325 hitting average along with a .987 fielding average. His 229 chances and 209 putouts are the second best on the team.
