PENSACOLA, Fla. --- No. 7/12 UWF claimed the two-seed for the South Region and is hosting the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball South Regional #2. All games will be played at Jim Spooner Field on the UWF campus in Pensacola, Fla. beginning Thursday, May 18 through Sunday, May 21.

The Argos will play game two of the day on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and take on seven-seed, Florida Southern. No. 3 Montevallo and No. 6 Barry will open the tournament at noon. All games will be played at noon and 3:30 p.m. through Saturday. Sunday's championship game will have a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.

Adult All Tournament Passes are $20 or $8 for a Day Pass. All Tournament Passes are $12 for senior, military, and students or $5 for a Day Pass. Children ages 2 and under are free.

- Animals are not allowed -Â except service animals, which, as defined by the ADAAA, are dogs or miniature horses that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities, are allowed.
- The main gate at Jim Spooner Field will open 60 minutes prior to the first game on each day.
- No coolers or outside food or beverages are allowed.
- UWF HAS A CLEAR BAG POLICY FOR THE EAST SPORTS COMPLEX. No purses, backpacks, bags, coolers, etc. are allowed.

ABOUT UWF
- The Argonauts captured their third GSC title and 117th conference crown in UWF history in Oxford last week.Â
- The Argos became the 23rd team to sweep the regular-season and tournament titles in the same season, but the first since 2017.
- Jackson Grabsky, Josh Prizina, Trent Jeffcoat and Jadon Fryman were named GSC All-Tournament Team. Grabsky was honored as GSC's Most Outstanding Player
- UWF has won 21 of their last 22 games.
- UWF is 37-15 on the season and is 24-2 in its last 26 contests.
- Head coach Mike Jeffcoat is currently at 599 career wins as the program enters the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

ARGOS VS. MOCS EARLIER THIS SEASON
- UWF opened the 2023 season on the road against Florida Southern. The Mocs opened the series with a win, but UWF battled back and took the series 2-1.
- All three games resulted in a one-run difference.
- Jackson Grabksy hit a 10th inning series finale homer that secured the win for UWF.
- Josh Prizina led the opening season twin bill with four RBI.

ABOUT FLORIDA SOUTHERN MOCS
- The Mocs are 32-18 on the season and finished 17-13 in the Sunshine State Conference.
- Florida Southern finished the regular season with a losing sweep from Barry (May 13-14).
- The team is led by Bryce Safferwich with a .392 batting average. This is the fourth best in the conference. Safferwich leads the team in hits (80) and doubles (16) while having the second most RBI on the team at 49.
- Senior Connor Berry is in the top-15 with a .363 batting average. His 54 RBI is the best on the team and totals second best, 11 homeruns on the season.
- Four players join Safferwich and Berry in hitting a .300 average or above.
- Starting pitchers Aric McAtee, Nathan Madej and Jordan Fox combine for 17 wins – McAtee and Madej lead with six wins each.
- McAtee is throwing a 4.00 ERA which is 15th best in the conference. He holds his opponents to a .270 hitting average. McAtee has allowed 43 runs on 76 hits and has thrown 81 strikeouts.
- Madej has thrown 89 strikeouts in 77.2 innings pitched which is best on the team and third best in the conference. Heholds his opponents to a .278 average in 13 appearances.

OPPONENTS IN THE SOUTH REGION
- Montevallo Falcons are the three-seed in the South Region and hold a record of 38-14. The program is ranked No. 18 in the NCBWA national poll and No. 15 in the Collegiate Baseball ranking. UWF took a 2-1 series win over the Falcons in regular season, along with a 9-5 victory in the GSC Tournament.
- Earning the six-seed was the Barry Buccaneers. The team earned an at-large berth with a 32-17 record. The Buccaneers are receiving votes in the Collegiate Baseball national poll.
- The Florida Southern Mocs are coming into the tournament at the seventh seed in the South Region. Their 32-18 overall record is receiving votes in the Collegiate Baseball ranking.
- Tampa leads the South Region as the one-seed with a 40-9 record. The Spartans are hosting the NCAA South Regional #1 Tournament. The program is ranked top 5 in the NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball national polls. The Spartans and Argonauts are predicted to face each other in the Super Regional that is from May 26 through the 27th.
