PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jeff Burkhamer announced today that Darius Sherman, a 6-foot-2 wing player will be transferring from Oakland University and has signed a scholarship to play at the University of West Florida beginning in the 2023-2024 season.
"Darius is a competitor and will bring us perimeter athleticism," Burkhamer said. "He will give us another scorer and be able to space the floor for others. He can score in a variety of ways, adds quickness, and is an outstanding defender.
Sherman, who calls Bear, Delaware home, redshirted in 2021-22 and then played in 14 games this past season. He is originally from Monrovia, Liberia but prepped in San Antonio, Texas. Sherman was chosen as the 2019 Player of the Year at Wagner HS where he averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds per game. Sherman was ranked as the 56th best recruit in the state by
Texas Top 100.
"We are thrilled that Darius chose to transfer to the University of West Florida to continue his career as an Argonaut," Burkhamer added. "It is a perfect fit for him and for us and he has a great opportunity at UWF to excel as a player and as a student."
Sherman comes to UWF with three years of eligibility remaining and plans to pursue a degree in Business.
