AUGUSTA, Ga. – UWF newcomer Nico Lang made his Argonaut debut a memorable one. The graduate transfer shot a final round 68 to win the Bearcat Fall Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club Tuesday.
Lang finished with 69-70-68=207 to best 100-player field by a shot. The Illinois grad made 11 birdies to lead the field on his way to securing his first collegiate title.
No. 3 UWF finished in fifth place overall, posting a 286-292-282=860, 4-under-par total. The 282 was the lowest on the final day and was enough to move the team up two positions on the leaderboard. No. 6 North Georgia claimed the team title with an 842 score.
Junior Mason Minkel matched Lang with a 4-under-par 68 on the last day, moving him into 27th place with a 73-75-68=216. Sophomore Cooper Tendick tied for 33rd at 218.
Junior Fabian Wennerlof and sophomore Jack Burbee – who competed as an individual – tied for 42nd at 219 and Eddie Lee totaled a 229.
The Argos will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the Mizuno Intercollegiate, hosted by UNG at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Georgia.
