PENSACOLA, Fla. – The West Florida Women's Cross Country Team will travel to Florence, Alabama for the UNA Invitational at McFarland Park, hosted by North Alabama, on Saturday morning at 7:45 am.

UWF will be racing in a 5k format for the first time this season, after running in the Foothills Invitational 4k last week, where the team placed fifth.

"After a successful start to our season last week, our aim is to be consistent and competitive week to week", Head Coach
Caleb Carmichael stated.  "The ladies are ready to get back to racing the 5k.Â

West Florida was very competitive in their prior meet as sophomores
Chloe Rook and
Ava Baldauf led the pack with marks of 14:51.10 and 15:20.10.  Rook finished 14
th, the best among Division II runners.

Julia Alvarez Drago posted a top-40 finish to get the Argos 182 points as a squad, allowing West Florida to finish above fellow Gulf South Conference school, Auburn Montgomery.  UWF was the highest finisher among non-Division I schools at the meet.

Freshmen,
Olivia Noack and
Ambrea Hobbs, had successful debuts as well with marks of 16:22.10 and 17:34.70.
