KILLEN, Ala. – The University of West Florida men's golf team joined the field at the Turtle Point Invite after the cancellation of the Copperhead Championship and the team finished in third place amongst the 10-team field.
The Argos finished with an 867 (+3) team score behind Jacksonville State and North Alabama.
Three different players had rounds under par in the three-round tournament.
Per Ekelund had a strong start with a two-under, 70 in round one. Ekelund's eagle on hole 17's 548-yard par five gave the sophomore his best round of the invitational.
Eddie Lee had the team's best individual round, posting a 69 (-3) in the second round. The junior had just one bogey in the round. Lee placed 20th overall with a +1.
Cooper Tendick was the team's top individual finisher, placing 18th by shooting even par. Tendick shot a one-over-par, 73 in rounds one and two, but finished the tournament with a two-under to hit par.
Next up for the Argos is the Matlock Collegiate Classic on Feb. 10.
