PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida baseball team makes their way back home this weekend after spending two weeks on the road.

The Argos head into conference play and will take on Alabama Huntsville in a three-game series at Jim Spooner Field. UWF will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 2 at 1:00 p.m. with a single game on Sunday, March 3 at 1:00 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for general admission, $10 for chair backs and $5 for military and seniors. Free admission for students that provide a valid nautilus ID.

UWF will host an opening tailgate and Greek Life Day for Saturday's contest.

About UWF
UWF is 9-5 on the season with a 2-1 conference record. The Argos sit at No. 4 in the GSC standings with a.667 conference percentage.

Parker Tubb leads the offense with a .385 average on 13 appearances and six starts.
Darrien McDowell follows with a .382 average and has started in all 14 contests.

McDowell leads the team in hits (21), homeruns (5), RBI (21) and tied for most doubles (4).

UWF is ranked No. 9 in the newest NCBWA national poll that was released Wednesday (Feb. 28) afternoon. The team jumped seven spots in the rankings after taking a pair of wins over conference opponent, West Alabama last weekend.

UWF grabbed a 2-1 series win over the Tigers.

The Argos opened with a 4-2 win in Friday's opening series contest (Feb. 23).
Dalton Neuschwander got the win after throwing a seven inning, eight strikeout performance. He was named GSC and NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Week. This was Neuschwander's first and the team's third weekly conference honor of the season.

In Saturday's doubleheader, UWF opened with a 14-15 loss but finished with a whopping 17-2 victory.

UWF seemed to have the opening doubleheader game in the bag but the Tigers fought their way through in the final inning. The eighth inning alone involved eight totaled runs scored – five by the Argos, three by the Tigers. UWF had a 14-9 lead heading into the ninth frame. West Alabama managed to put up six runs with the winning run being off a walk-off hit by pitch. The final run put the Tigers on top for a 15-14 win.

In the final game, UWF scored 16 consecutive runs to bring a large gap between them and the Tigers. 13 of UWF's runs came in the final two innings. Of the 17 runs scored, 15 of them were recorded as RBIs.

UWF racked five home runs throughout the series.

Over the course of the three games, McDowell tallied five hits, five RBI and two home runs.
Jadon Fryman led with six hits, two RBI and hit a pair of doubles.

Recap vs. Columbus State
UWF took two losses to Columbus State for mid-week, non-conference games.

Argos opened with a 15-8 defeat, followed by a close 4-3 loss. In Tuesday's (Feb. 27) match, the team scored six runs on six hits in one inning alone to bounce back from a 10-2 deficit. They brought the score to 10-8. CSU managed put up five more runs while the Argos were kept scoreless through the final four innings.

In game two, the Argos were leading 3-2 heading into the bottom half of the eighth frame. Columbus State put up a pair of runs and took the win.

Scouting Alabama Huntsville Chargers
The Chargers are on a five-game win streak for a 12-4, 1-2 GSC record. They lead the GSC with an overall win percentage of .750.

Alabama Huntsville holds a 7-1 record at home.

The latest loss was against Mississippi College. They took a 2-1 series defeat. Since then, they have grabbed five straight wins – two single game victories over Auburn Montgomery and Tuskegee with a three-game series sweep against Truman State.

The Chargers have scored double digit runs in the last three consecutive games.
Â
Sophomore Merik Carter leads offensively with a .478 average. In 14 consecutive starts, Carter leads the Chargers in hits (22) and RBI (18). He is tied for most homeruns with three and tallies a triple. He records the second most doubles on the team with five.

Senior Carson Villalta records an impressive .400 batting average. He follows Merik with 20 hits, leads with six doubles and records the team's second triple.

Starting pitchers Jacob Peters and Will Hotalen record four starts each. Peters is 2-1 on the mound and posts a 5.60 ERA. Hotalen leads the squad with 19 IP and 25 strikeouts.

The teams are 28-28 against each other since 2006. Argos are 9-14 on the road over the Chargers.
