MCCORMICK, S.C. – The University of West Florida men's golf team, led by junior
Cooper Tendick took second place at the Bearcat Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in the team's opening rounds of play for the 2024-2025 season. Tendick was the top individual golfer of the invitational.
UWF finished the three-round tournament with a combined total of 843 (-21). The Argos went six-under in the first round followed by 13-under and two-under in the succeeding rounds.
After the completion of round one, UWF sat in first place, two strokes ahead of North Georgia and USC Aiken. North Georgia used a strong second and third round to take the lead and win the invitational.
Tendick highlighted the individual play for the Argos as the junior went 12-under to place first overall. The Kennesaw, Ga. native shot a first round 66 followed by a 65 in round two to set himself up for the win, despite shooting a 73 (+1) in the final round.
The invitational featured 19 teams and 104 players.
UWF will head to the Mizuno Intercollegiate on Sept. 23 and 24 for their next rounds of play, hosted in Gainesville, Ga. at the Chattahoochee Golf Club.
