GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The University of West Florida men's golf team placed third at the Mizuno Intercollegiate Invitational on Monday and Tuesday with a team score of 844 (-20).
The Argos got off to a slow start in the first round of play, shooting a 3-over par 291and sat in eighth place. But the team responded in the second round with a team score of 279 (-9) and improved into the final round by shooting 14-under to push the group into a third-place finish behind North Georgia (-28) and Lee (-30).

Mason Minkel tied for third overall with an eight-under 208. Ekelund shot the team round low score in the third round with a 67 (-5).
UWF has now finished in the top three in both opening season fall tournaments.
The Argos will be back on the course again on Monday, Oct. 7 and 8 at the Hurricane Invitational in Albany, Ga. hosted by Georgia South Western. The tournament will be played at Doublegate Country Club.
