PENSACOLA, Fla. –
Olof Thorvaldsdottir was named South Region Player of the Year, as announced by the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association.
The sophomore has 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points. Thorvaldsdottir has been a key player for the Argos' 18-1-2 season.
UWF leads the region with seven All-Region selections. Joining Thorvaldsdottir on first team are
Belle Okoroafo,
Mya Swinton,
Jillian Thompson, and
JoHannah Peterson.
Hunter Wallace and
Alexis Castle grabbed second-team honors.
Okoroafo finished the season with 11 shutouts, eight goals allowed, and 18 wins. Swinton had five goals and three assists this season. Swinton was the D2 CCA South Region Player of the Year. Thompson recorded 1,512 minutes and four goals. Peterson led the team with 1,799 minutes on the pitch.
Wallace was the second-leading goal scorer on the team with seven goals. Castle was third with six goals.
The Gulf South Conference led with 15 selections.
