COMPLETE ITA DII MEN'S TOP 25

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The UWF men's tennis team was rewarded for its 4-0 start, including three now-top five teams in the ITA DII National Men's Team Indoor Championship for its first national title in the event in program history, with a No. 2 national team ranking by the ITA.

After a season-opening 7-0 sweep of GSC opponent Montevallo, the Argos headed to Indianapolis as the No. 7 seed going up against defending national runner-up and 2-seed Flagler, currently No. 3 in the national rankings, in the quarterfinals on the opening day of the tournament. UWF won 4-2, advancing to the semifinals against seven-time national champion Barry, now No. 5 in the nation, on Saturday. The Argos fell behind 2-0 for the second time in as many days, but came back to beat the Bucs 4-3 and advance to the championship match against 8-seed Washburn. There, they finished off the weekend with a clean 4-0 sweep.

Albin Ekenros won GSC Player of the Week with his 3-0 week in singles and his doubles win against Washburn with Miguel Cabrera, all crucial points toward the Argos' run through the field.

UWF goes back on the road this weekend, heading to Memphis to take on Christian Brothers in its first GSC road matchup of the season before a pair of nonconference neutral-site matches versus Ouachita Baptist and No. 24 Southern Arkansas.
